Welcome

Welcome to the Suffolk Heights Benefice News website created to complement the monthly community magazine, serving the six parishes of  our benefice, Suffolk Heights.  Here you will find information on the  parish churches of Chedburgh, Chevington, Depden, Hargrave, Hawkedon and Rede along with details of upcoming events, services and the latest news.

Find out how you can contribute to the life of your parish and Suffolk Heights.  Contact details for each can be found on the Contact Us page.

In the News section there are details of the World Day of Prayer to be held on Friday 5th March - on Zoom, of course.

If you are interested in joining Chevington Parish Council, there are now two vacancies so please go to the Local Councils page (under the More tab above) and see how you can apply to the Clerk.

The March 2021 edition is now available to view on the Magazine page of this site.  There you can find details of the Hargrave on line quiz and the proposed Garden Fayre in May as we creep ever more cautiously to events happening again.

If you have any news, please send it in and I will add it to the News Section, see below.

From the Rectory

We have all been asked to give up so much this past year that to ‘expect’ people to give up something extra for Lent seems almost cruel somehow.  And yet the extraordinary thing is that when we look back over the past year what I believe will shine through is how much people have given in helping others through these difficult times.

Our churches this past year have been observing a strict Lentern discipline – not voluntarily I must admit.  Nevertheless, it has been a time that our churches have blossomed in other ways.  We have come together in unexpected ways and found new and enriching ways of being church.

In the midst of another wilderness, the prophet Isaiah wrote, ‘The desert shall rejoice and blossom’.  Already the spring buds are breaking and Easter beckons.  Lent reminds us that despair is never the end of the story of faith.  Living within God’s love there is always resurrection, renewal and hope.  Let us hold onto this promise as we journey together in faith through Lent.

Every blessing
