Also, to help you keep up with the lockdown rules we reproduce the Suffolk County Council's leaflet in News.
Already Christmas seems a distant memory. But we are still in the greater Season of Christmas. At Epiphany (January 6th) we celebrate the Epiphany, the coming of the wise men to visit the infant Jesus told to us in Matthew’s gospel. It’s a story that reveals the Christ-child would be for all peoples. And so, in this season of Epiphany, we especially remember in our prayers the world-wide mission of the church to share God’s love with others. But this year let us also hold in our prayers all those who are sharing God’s love through caring for those who are distressed or sick at this time. Their loving hands are an inspiration to us all as we face the long weeks ahead.
The greater Season of Christmas concludes with the Feast of the Presentation of Christ at the Temple. Candlemas (February 2nd), known as Candlemas because all the candles to be used in lighting the church over the coming year were brought to church on this day to be blessed by God. Candlemas takes one last look at Christmas before shining the light on the road that will lead us to Lent and the mysteries of Easter, a journey we too are asked to walk.
Although some of our churches will remain open for Sunday services, others are closed but you are invited to join us for our services on Zoom (details for joining will be shown on our website) as we journey together sharing with one another as we walk in the light of Christ.
Every blessing
Rev Dr Simon Hill
